This year SU! included a menorah/hanukkiah in the Seasonal Lanterns set. For those who don’t know it, here is a great explanation of the menorah and the story of Hanukah.
I like that the candles and flames are separate stamps, so that it’s easy to use different colors for each part. For this card I stamped the menorah in VersaMark and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. I then inked the candles in VersaMark and then Marina Mist ink before stamping, then embossing with Clear Embossing Powder. Finally the candle flames were inked in VersaMark and Crushed Curry ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.
I did all the embossing because I wanted to add color for the table the menorah is sitting on and the wall behind it. I did this by masking the bottom of the menorah with a sticky note and rolling So Saffron ink on with a sponge brayer. Then I moved the sticky note to cover the So Saffron ink and added Marina Mist ink with a clean sponge brayer. I then wiped any excess ink off the embossed menorah, which resisted the brayered ink.
As is traditional, I have placed my menorah in a window, which I made with the Hearth & Home Thinlits (I cut out the vertical munton). The window is set in a wood-sided wall, made with the Hardwood stamp inked in Smokey Slate and stamped on Whisper White. For a little more twinkle I wrapped a strand of Black and Silver Mini Sequin Trim around the Smokey Slate card base and tied them together.
