3-D Stage Card

These are the cards I showed on my Facebook Live video this week.  You can watch the replay on Facebook or YouTube!

A reminder that next week’s Facebook Live video may be showing at a different time where you are since we’re ending Daylight Saving Time on Sunday.  I’ll go live at 10:00 am AEST in Melbourne – you can double-check your local broadcast time by clicking this link.

This is the card I made before I went live:

And this is the card I made during the live:

At the end of my video I was deliberating what to put on the outside of the card to dress it up.  As you can see, I stamped, coloured and die cut more flowers from the Happy Birthday To You set to hang over the stage opening.

I CASE’d this fun fold design from Laurence Mirman, who has a good picture tutorial on her blog post.  As I say in the video, she only has metric measurements, but since my U.S. friends aren’t likely to mass-produce this design I think they’ll be fine with that.

There was one step in Laurence’s tutorial where I was confused about how to do the assembly she was describing, so I’ve made a few pointers for you:

For Step 4:  Cut the 2 strips of cardstock the way she indicates but score at 1.9 cm instead of 2.0 cm.  This will give you enough room to get the “wings” of your stage to fit without having to shave them down the way I did in the video.

In Step 5, fold the scored ends of the 2 strips you made in Step 4.  Put glue on the outside of those tabs, and adhere them to the back of the frame you made in Steps 1-2, being sure to get them lined up with the edges of the frame.  You should see that the folds of the tabs hang a bare 1 mm over the top and bottom edges of the frame, but since they are the same colour as the rest of the card the recipient’s eye will miss this (you can see this in the bottom of these pictures, on the right side).

Now that I have this fun fold down I think I’ll play with another one or two.  How about you?  If you give it a go send me a picture!

Here’s what I used to make these cards:

FYI – New Zealand’s Prime Minister has asked that companies stop shipping non-essential goods. Not everyone agrees that craft supplies are essentials, so to comply with this request, Stampin’ Up! will halt all shipments into New Zealand until further notice.

THIS COULD HAPPEN IN AUSTRALIA, TOO!

So NOW is the time to stock up up on craft supplies for your quarantine period. Don’t forget the basics like adhesives, white card stock and envelopes so you can share the love.

If you have any questions or need help making decisions, I’m here for you. And a special THANK YOU for your support.

Use the April host code (below) when placing your online order OR redeem your Stampin’ Rewards straight away if your product total is over $250. It’s worth checking if you’re super close to that figure.
