Over the weekend I received an order for multiple New Baby cards. I realised that I didn’t have any in my stash, and as I set out to make some I pondered on why that was. I’m figuring the that I was in that in-between stage of life where my age group was finished having their own babies, and is just now starting to have grand babies. So I guess I need to put these onto my to-do list more often.
Here’s what I created for my customer to choose from. She’d requested 3, 1 for a boy, 1 for a girl, and one gender-neutral. Each of these use an image from Animal Outing. The “Welcome Little One” is also from that set…the “Welcome Baby” is from Special Celebrations.
I’m still loving using the Mosaic 3D embossing folder with ink on the de-bossed side as a background layer. You can’t see it in the pic, but the rhino’s horn is coloured in with a Wink of Stella pen and is glittery. I also apparently had a bit of pigment remaining in it from my Pigment Sprinkles class prep, so it’s slightly green-tinged, too, LOL.
These images are so fun to colour. I used Stampin’ Blends, but the Watercolor Pencils with or without a Blender Pen would work nicely, too. Purple Posy is a nice, soft background accent, with the die cut piece embossed with the Scripty 3D folder, and the card base embossed with the Eyelet Lace.
Seaside Spray and Gray Granite with a touch of Cajun Craze on the bird make up the colour scheme on this card. The embossing folder is Layered Leaves 3D, and the die-cut mat is made by cutting the die from Animal Friends 4 times on a piece of card stock and doing a little shaping with paper snips (and a bit of strategic image and sentiment placement).
Smoky Slate for the neutral win on this one. The stomach area of the kangaroo is coloured with the Smoky Slate Light Blend, just like the rest of her, but I then used the Color Lifter to lighten it up.
Can you tell what I used to emboss the background on this one? It’s the Stitched Lace Die used with the now-retired Big Shot Embossing Mats. I also embossed the flagged strip with the Subtle embossing folder. The tag is cut with one of the brand-new Ornate Frames Dies (HC p. 53). I’m not buying any Halloween products this year as it’s not really a thing here in Australia among my customers, but I am glad I bought these dies and the Stylish Scroll embossing folder from the Monster Bash Suite.
