Endless Balloon Celebration

31/3/2016

Picture
This card, which I CASE'd from Becky Roberts, is a light and spring-y way to send a greeting.  It features the wonderful layered balloons from Balloon Celebration stamped in Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Watermelon Wonder.    I inked up the solid balloon stamp and stamped-off before stamping on the Whisper White panel.  Then I inked up the dotted overlay and stamped it full-strength on top of the balloons.  Once they dried, I used a ruler and a Sahara Sand Stampin' Write Marker to lightly add the balloon strings.  The sentiment is from Endless Birthday wishes stamped in Archival Basic Black.  The clouds are punched from the Tree Builder punch and attached with a Glue Dot, carefully placed where the It's My Party Enamel Dots embellishments will cover them.

CAS Flowering Fields Birthday

This card is a great example of CAS (Clean And Simple) style.  CASE'd from Cindy Elam, it has a great focal image and plenty of white space.

I stamped the images from Flowering Fields (a FREE Sale-A-Bration selection with a $50 purchase through this Thursday) on a 2" x 4.5" piece of Whisper White card stock using Archival Basic Black Ink.  Then I colored them in using Blender Pens and ink from ink pads.  Once they were all colored in I cut the panel into 1.5" pieces and mounted them with Stampin' Dimensionals on a Thick Whisper White card base on which I stamped the sentiment from Build A Birthday.  So simple!

Sale-A-Bration is ending on Thursday.  Have you gotten all the items you wanted?  There's still time...just place an order in my online store and for every $50 you spend choose one of the FREE items.

This card (CASE'd from Chris Slogar) features one of those free items, the Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Paper Stack (wow, that's a mouthful!).  It's a 6"x6" vellum pad with designs that coordinate with the Botanical Gardens Suite in the Occasions Catalog (pp. 26-27).    I layered a strip on top of a strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock, and hid the adhesive with a length of Bermuda Bay ⅛" Stitched Ribbon wrapped around.

The leaves from Remarkable You are stamped in Old Olive on a Whisper White panel before the Bermuda Bay & Vellum strip is adhered.  The sentiment is from Balloon Celebration, and is also stamped in Old Olive.  The flowers are cut with the Botanical Builder Framelit Dies in Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Tangelo Twist and Daffodil Delight, and are embellished with rhinestones colored with a black permanent marker.

Happy Easter!

Hope you're having a great holiday weekend!  We don't do much in our house, but I have a tradition of making a little treat for my family.  I did an extra one for our friend who was visiting from Germany and flew home on Friday night.

I used the Fry Box Bigz L Die and stamped the front of the fry box with the grid stamp from the Timeless Textures stamp set.  I also stamped the chick from Honeycomb Happiness on Daffodil Delight in Archival Basic Black and snipped it out.  It is mounted on a Decorative Label punch and then on the fry box.

I filled the fry boxes and slipped them into our Gusseted Cellophane Bags and tied them with ribbon.  Quick, easy and fun!

Why don't you come join the fun???

This is the best time of the year to join my Stampin' Up! team...here's why!
  • Until March 31st, you will be able to join my team by purchasing $155 worth of product and pay only $99 plus sales tax. Free Shipping! What a great way to stock up on new products from your Annual Catalog wish list or the new Occasions catalog!
  • Earn at least a 20% discount on all future purchases.  What’s not to love about that?
  • Demonstrators get an early look at new catalogs, and can order a full month earlier than customers!
  • You do not have to hold any events, workshops, classes or sell anything to anyone, ever!
  • If you decide to never order again, that’s ok - you don’t owe Stampin’ Up! (or me) anything.
  • To remain a demonstrator you will need to have $300 of sales/purchases per quarter (before your discount - that means it’s really $280 of products).
  • Demonstrators earn Flex Points that can be redeemed for catalog product, incentive trips or other SU! swag.  These points are earned automatically through your purchases/sales, tenure and other promotions.  Free stuff - just for doing what you’re already doing!
  • You’ll be part of MY team, and get special projects, tips, and gifts from me.
You can see by the projects we made in the March meeting that several of them were quite simple, made with limited supplies (some of which weren't even current SU! products).  One was sent in from a demonstrator who lives out of state, so living close to me isn't required.  We have room for crafters of all levels of experience.

Sweet Chick Birthday

23/3/2016

Picture
I'm back with another card featuring this adorable chick from Honeycomb Happiness, a Sale-A-Bration set that's only available through March 31 (see details below).  I've CASE'd this from Joanne James.  It uses a couple of techniques:  first, I stamped the chick in Sahara Sand ink, in an attempt at no-line watercoloring.  The idea is that the light colored ink will fade into the background, making it look like there are no outlines.  I used an AquaPainter with So Saffron and Daffodil Delight inks, then filled in the eyes with a Project Life Journaling Pen and used a Tangelo Twist marker to color in the eyes, beak and feet.

The second technique is masking.  I stamped the chick on a Post-It note, being sure to get as much of the image over the sticky strip as I could, then cut it right on the outline and placed it over the watercolored chick to mask it while I stamped the floral spray from Number of Years "behind" it.  Then I removed the mask and stamped the second spray of stems and leaves, along with all the flowers.  Finally, I watercolored the grassy hill under and around the chick.

Since I used a piece of Very Vanilla card stock for the image panel, it was pretty wavy once I'd done all that watercoloring, so when it was mostly dry I put it under some books to finish drying overnight and flatten out, then added the sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes and mounted it on a Wisteria Wonder card base.

Pedal Pusher Birthday

22/3/2016

Picture
Today's card is a quick, fun fold that I CASE'd from Connie Babbert.  It features the tandem bicycle from Pedal Pusher, one of the later Sale-A-Bration additions.  I used Stampin' Write Markers to color it in.  The sentiments are from the Sunburst Sayings stamp set, since I don't have the one Connie used.
Picture
In this picture you can see the fun fold part...the Daffodil Delight card base is cut 10" x 4.25", and scored at 5.5", which gives the side-folding card a front that's 1" shorter than the back.  This allows the secondary sentiment to be visible at all times.

The Designer Series Paper strips are ¼", ½" and ¾" from the Brights DSP Stack.  I also added a Brights Candy Dot embellishment to the center of the front wheel.

Fun in the Craft Room

19/3/2016

This week I hosted a couple of gatherings in the craft room.  The first was a small group of real estate agents who send out lots of thank-you and congratulations cards to potential and actual clients.
Picture
I set them up with the February Paper Pumpkin kit, "Hello Sunshine", which makes 9 cards and has a variety of sentiments, including a thank-you and congratulations.  I also bumped up their card count with 3 additional cards that were made with extra stickers in the kit and the images in the stamp set.
Picture

Later in the week I had 2 friends stop in for my Open Craft Room day.  One (not pictured) assembled the Tin of Cards Kit she'd purchased.  The other, Barbara, came and made a couple of cards, taking my suggested designed to a whole new level with her artistic abilities!  (The basic design for the card pictured above is CASE'd from Carol Matthews).

Do you have a group of friends or family who would like a private crafting event?  You can come to my craft room or I'll come to your home or work...just let me know!

Paper Pumpkin Milestones Celebration
