My son recently celebrated his 19th birthday with a dozen friends. The next day he stopped in at our house and asked me to make him a dozen simple thank-you cards. I had just spotted this design on Pinterest, and we agreed it was perfect! I liked it so much that we made it in my August Monthly Class, too. This card uses the Layered Letters Alphabet Photopolymer Stamp Set, which includes both this rectangle and an oval "color block". In the version above, I stamped-off the color blocks before applying to the card. In the version below I stamped the colors full strength. Layered Letters Alphabet Photopolymer Stamp Set (138692) Note Cards & Envelopes in Whisper White (131527) Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (132708) Classic Stampin’ Pad in Real Red (126949), Pumpkin Pie (126945), Daffodil Delight (126944), Cucumber Crush (138324), Tempting Turquoise (126952), Pacific Point (126951), Rich Razzleberry (126950). I wound up with enough pieces left over to make a couple of extra cards...this one came together once I saw Connie Stewart's Stampin' Girls Gone Wild Weekend Challenge for this weekend: It was a nice change to use the Tangerine Tango as the main color, after all the softer colors in the rest of the cards: The 3 cards on the left are the ones that were designed by Stampin' Up! and match the pictures on the directions at the top. All the rest are variations that use the kit pieces plus some extra goodies. One is a shaker card, 2 are pocket cards, and all of them are different from each other. The one at the very bottom is the other bonus card I designed. In September you will have the opportunity to come to a class and make all of these...keep watching for details! Sign up at PaperPumpkin.com by September 10 with promo code HALFOFF! I've been spending a lot of the last week getting caught up on paperwork/bookkeeping and figuring out where to put things in the renovated kitchen. It's not complete yet, but enough of the drawers and cabinets are so that I can put things in them. I want to do things right, not just throw them in, so I'm plotting out where everything should go. Very time consuming! But today I cleared my afternoon to start working on the Cottage Greetings Kit (AC p. 154). The kit comes with supplies to make 4 each of 3 different style of cards, for a total of 12 cards. Well, you know I can't stand to make 4 identical cards if I have a choice about it, so I've found some alternative uses for the kit. Here's what I've got so far - the bottom row is the kit as designed, and the top row are 3 alternative uses: I'm going to come up with several more and then offer a class to make them all! Wouldn't you like to have these in your stash???!!! Look for this class sometime soon... You've read my spiel for a couple of weeks now...just go sign up already!! If you're reading this on Monday night there's still a few hours to get signed up for August's kit...but you have to do it before midnight MT. Otherwise you'll get the great September and October kits. paperpumpkin.com promo code: HALFOFF I got to play along with this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge, too, but I'm making sure I get it blogged and linked to their site this time! I knew what I wanted to do with the sketch, but I must have tried 4 different combinations of papers from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack before I found one I really liked! Sometimes the creative process is just like that. The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts and the end of the Very Vanilla strip is flagged with the Banner punch. I also used the small butterfly image from Watercolor Wings, inking up the bottom layer in Blushing Bride and the edge layer in Calypso Coral. The wee thorax is stamped in Old Olive. I cut it out with the Butterflies Thinlits on my Big Shot. Here's the sketch...why don't you play along too, and send me a picture of your creation? I'd love to see what you do with it. Less than 1 week to get August's Paper Pumpkin kit! That's right - to get August's Paper Pumpkin kit you need to sign up before Monday, August 10. Are you someone who likes all things vintage? Pretty pink and gold and chalkboard? Then you don't want to miss this kit. I'm sure I've said too much and the Stampin' Up! police are going to be after me, LOL! Wait, you're still here? Why??? Oh, you need to know how to sign up? Go to paperpumpkin.com and sign up with me, Nancy Hoetker, as your demonstrator and enter the promo code HALFOFF to get 50% off your first 2 months. Go sign up now...you'll thank me later. Still have questions about Paper Pumpkin? See the FAQs or email me. Aaargh! Last Monday I played along with the Mojo Monday sketch, but then got caught up in my week and never blogged about it or linked my pic to their website. Oh, well, you can see it now: And here's the sketch that was my inspiration: The card is 4" x 8.5", which is certainly tall and skinny! The base is Cucumber Crush, and the strip is Daffodil Delight, and while you can't see it in the picture, is embossed with the (retired) Stripes embossing folder. The stripe is a tiny strip of Elegant Eggplant. The flower images are from Summer Silhouettes, and the sentiment is from the Tin of Cards set. The ink colors I used are Cucumber Crush, Watermelon Wonder, Garden Green and Elegant Eggplant. The embellishments are Rhinestone Basic Jewels and a small Elegant Eggplant button with a rhinestone in the center. Paper Pumpkin - you really want it!You know it's supposed to be a surprise each month, right? Well, I'm going to drop a big hint about the next 2 months:
