Mini Pizza Box Notes

10/9/2017

Have you noticed the Mini Pizza Boxes in the Holiday Catalog on page 44?  They are 3.5" square and a nice, heavy weight.  They also have a food-safe coating on the inside if you choose to use it for gifting some goodies.

Last week I had a friend contact me because she needed a gift for the winner of a tennis tournament.  She was hoping I had some kind of notepad that would be appropriate.  I didn't have anything in my stash, and while I had a few days to put something together my schedule was already pretty full, so I was hoping not to have to fit in a run to a store for this project.  I proposed that I transform one of the Mini Pizza Boxes into a box of square scratch/note paper, and my friend agreed.

She told me that she really likes the images in the This Little Piggy stamp set, and that her team colors are pink and light gray.  So I went to work and this is the result:
Picture
To color the Mini Pizza Box I took one of the Stampin' Spritzers and put 20 drops of Powder Pink re-inker in it, then filled it up with rubbing alcohol.  I put the unfolded box into an empty SU! shipping box (of course) and spritzed the colored alcohol all over.  Once it dried it was kind of mottled, so I refilled my spritzer with the same formula and did a second coat...perfect!  You can see a little bit of mottling, but it's not really noticeable on the assembled box.
Picture
Then I made the image panel by masking the sentiment on the stamp with a Post-It Note while inking, and then stamping the piggy in Memento Tuxedo Black on a 3" square of Whisper White.  I added the clouds in Soft Sky, and colored in the grass with Wild Wasabi.  Then I stamped the piggy again on Powder Pink card stock and fussy cut it out.  I highlighted the snout and inside of the ears with my Powder Pink Stampin' Write Marker.  It was glued directly on the top of the piggy stamped on the Whisper White.  I gave my client a choice in sentiments...sharp eyes will see that she chose one that is beneath a different pig image.  I just masked the pig with a Post-It while inking the sentiment, then stamped beneath the pig on my panel.  It's mounted to a Smoky Slate 3.25" square, then flat onto the Mini Pizza Box.
Picture
Then I cut a stack of printer paper into 3.25" squares and filled the box.  For presentation the box was slipped into a 4" x 6" cellophane bag and tied with Powder Pink ribbon.

The Holiday Catalog is now live and available for ordering!  If you don't have a copy of your very own, and aren't working with another Stampin' Up! demonstrator I'd be happy to send one to you.  Just drop me an email.

Check out this fun video highlighting some great products from the catalog:

Here, in no particular order, are some of my favorites from this amazing offering:
Picture
Cat Punch (144666, p. 53)
I'm not a cat person, but I love this punch.  Whether you're using it as a silhouette (see the little cat face in the Spooky Cat stamp set?), punching out the coordinating cats on the Spooky Night DSP, or stamping and punching the "word cat" from Spooky Cat, there are lots of things to do with this!

Painted Autumn Suite (pp. 48-49)
The Painted Harvest (144783) two-step stamp set makes wonderfully dimensional flowers. In yellow and orange tones they're sunflowers...in other colors they're simply beautiful!  The Painted Autumn DSP is full of images and patterns that are versatile enough to use outside of autumn-themed projects.

Watercolor Christmas Project Kit (144649, p. 34).  What a great way to quickly make 20 awesome Christmas cards!  I've got the stamp set and ink pads...let's schedule a time to get together and make the cards!

Santa's Suit Bundle (144681, p. 23)
Such a fun and whimsical take on a classic holiday figure!  The internet is already full of great examples of fun projects with this set!  Save 10% by ordering the bundled stamp set and Framelits.

Seasonal Lantern Bundle (146073, p 40)
Another great two-step stamping set and coordinating Framelits.  Lots of accessory images and sentiments to build the perfect holiday message for your friends and family!  Also, don't miss the hanukkah menorah in this set!
