On this week's Facebook Live video I shared my insights on the new Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer, and then used it's fabulous cutting and scoring capabilities to make this Pop Up card. You can watch the video either on Facebook or on YouTube.
The paper trimmer is now available for Demonstrators to order, but we don't yet have a date for customers. You can get around that by joining my team and adding it to your Starter Kit! Reach out if you have any questions or need help finding a demonstrator to join with in another country. One of the things I mentioned in the video is how much larger the cutting and scoring blades are on the new trimmer. Here's a picture that another demonstrator has published showing the difference:
The pop up card I made features the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper and a sentiment from the Free As A Bird stamp set. It is CASE'd from Patty Bennett, who has a printable sheet with measurements.
The one change I made from Patty's card is that for the middle label layer I used another piece of the DSP instead of stamping and colouring.
I really like this card design, and will probably make several more with different DSP. Like most fun fold cards, it folds flat for mailing, which is always good, right?
I hope you'll tune in to my Facebook Page next Wednesday morning at 10:00 to catch my next Live broadcast! Want to be sure what time that is where you're located? Click here to double-check.

I've been seeing cards similar to this on Pinterest ever since this See A Silhouette DSP debuted in the Annual Catalogue and decided to have a go.
I simply used my Paper Snips to fussy-cut 3 flowers and some leaves from 2 sheets of the DSP and glued them to a layer of Whisper White that I ran through the Basket Weave 3D embossing folder. Then I added the sentiment from Beauty Abounds and cut it out with one of the Ornate Frames Dies. A bit of the Mossy Meadow Linen Thread from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Pack finishes it off before adhering to a Whisper White Thick card base.
Here's everything that I used...clicking on an image takes you straight to my store. Upcoming Classes & Events

After having so much fun making the Double Z-Fold cards on my Facebook Live last week I had another combo pop into my head, demanding to be made: This one has a mat of Copper Foil paper under the Brightly Gleaming DSP. I also stamped the baubles/ornaments in Versamark on more of the Copper Foil and heat embossed with Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder. Oh. My. Goodness. Night of Navy, Copper Foil and Whisper White. Very classy looking, IMHO. Join me on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 Melbourne time (AEDT) for a Facebook Live video presentation. I'll be showing at least one card and probably some tips and tricks along the way. This week I'm sure to include a look at the new Stampin' Trimmer! You can tune in here: Nancy's Nifty Notes Facebook Page. Not sure what time I'll be Live where you are? Click this link to check!
Lately I have spent a lot of time focused on preparing for classes and events, so I made a deliberate decision to craft just for me! I had seen Sue Vine's swing easel card and really liked it. She doesn't have exact measurements for her card, but says she based it on one she saw by Amanda Bates, who does have measurements in both metric and inches. So I went with Amanda's design, but changed it up with my choices in papers, images and sentiment.
Super-fun, right?
It involves using the paper trimmer to cut and score to make the swinging panel and the folds for the easel. The large scallop square die referenced in Amanda's blog has been retired for a number of years and I no longer own it, so I had to measure and cut out the centre square of the Mosaic Mood DSP on the front of the card, too. I really wanted a creative challenge for my brain, and I got it with this project. Here's what I used to make it: Upcoming Classes & Events

Today I'm sharing the cards I made on my Facebook Live video on Wednesday. You can see the video on Facebook or YouTube. You can turn on notifications or subscribe to my channel to be informed when I'm Live or have posted a new video. Don't forget, my Live broadcast may have changed times where you are since we started Daylight Saving Time here in Melbourne.
And as promised on my video, here are the measurements to make this with A4 cardstock. For letter sized cards just Google "Double Z Fold Card" and I'm sure you get plenty of posts with measurements. I highly recommend you make a sample with scrap cardstock or paper to double-check the measurements. I wound up having to tweak two sets I found to get mine to work the way I wanted.
Card Base - 29.7cm x 10.5cm, score Landscape at 7.5cm and 15cm Z-Fold Layer - 23.4cm x 8.5cm, score Landscape at 12cm and 17.7cm DSP & Stamping Panels - 11cm x 7.5cm, two cut to 5.0cm x 7.5cm And here are the products I used to make these cards. Clicking on any of the pictures takes you to my Online Store. (note: in the video I use my Mossy Meadow Stampin' Write Marker on one of the ornaments - you could also use a Blender Pen and pick up the ink from the Mossy Meadow stamp pad.) I'm showing off some of the cards made at my World Cardmaking Day event last Saturday. Once again, I provided materials and some examples, but people really went to town designing their own cards.
Stampin' Up! sent along a pack of Joyous Noel DSP from last year's Holiday Catalogue, and I had a lot of the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper left over, so these made a great starting point for projects. I pre-cut some of the Detailed Deer Dies out of both the Glimmer Paper and some Copper Foil.
The other end of the table had this set-up:
This is a card layout I CASE'd from Laura Beuchler. I changed the DSP to use up the Dashing Along paper I had left over from last year (she used the Wrapped in Plaid from this year's HC which works very nicely - see product list below if you want to make these!). I set up my Stamparatus so that it was easy to mass-produce the stamping. The pre-cut DSP and mats were able to mix-and-match. Lots of this design were made, but people also put their own twists on them, too.
Below are some of the cards made from this table and also some made by combining products from both tables. I love how the creative minds worked!
Here's what you'll need to make the easily mass-produced card at the top of this post. You can use a different graphic element under the sentiment...I used this one because I had the stamp set.

One table had a couple of baskets of the now-retired Santa's Workshop Suite from last year's Holiday Catalogue. Again, I had a couple of examples, but many more pieces without samples. SU! didn't provide the coordinating stamps or dies, but I used my e-cutter and various shape dies (and my paper snips in a few cases) to cut out some of the great images from the Designer Series Paper. And here are just a few of the creations made: Check back for more tomorrow! Just a heads-up that we've started Daylight Savings Time here in Melbourne, which may change what time I'm LIVE where you are. Click on this link to check! Note: If you're reading this post via email you may not be able to see all the pictures. Just click on the blue title above to view it on your browser and see everything. I had lots of materials prepared for my World Cardmaking Day event on Saturday, but just a few were organised into specific project ideas. Even those wound up being inspiration for my attendees to make their own! As I mentioned in yesterday's post, Stampin' Up! Australia donated a large amount of retired product for our project, so most of what you'll see is not available to purchase anymore. For this pair of birthday cards I cut an entire package of 6x6 Picture Perfect Party DSP into 2 pieces - one that fit an entire card front, and one that, when matted, fit the vertical half of a card front. My expectation was that the crafters would choose from the large variety of birthday sentiments and punches & dies to make variations of my samples. At the other end of the table I placed the Dino Days stamp set and Dinoroar DSP with coordinating card bases, and pre-cut stamping and matting layers. I included a few sample projects to get them started. While some people stuck pretty closely to my examples, others really got into the fun and went their own way, even mixing-and-matching between the suites since they had similar colour schemes. Here are a few from this table (card front on L, inside on R if decorated): And last but not least, here is Mary with the first greeting card she's ever made! On Saturday I held an event to celebrate World Cardmaking Day (yes, that really is a thing!). I invited people to stop in and create cards that will be donated to the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation here in Melbourne, and they will be sold in the hospital's gift shop to support the Foundation's initiatives.
I contacted Stampin' Up! Australia a few months ago, and they agreed to donate a huge box of supplies to be used for projects and door prizes. I received a LOT of retired Designer Series Paper and card stock packs, wood-mount stamp sets, ribbon and embellishments, a few ink pads, and a bunch of project kits.
I took over our entire living area for a couple of days! These 2 tables had Christmas-themed materials.
And our dining table had birthday and Dinoroar materials.
I love that everyone was so open and friendly and helped each other. About ⅓ of the attendees knew each other from having come to my classes before, but the other ⅔ were brand new to my events. Several were brand new to stamping and paper crafting, so I was happy that the experienced stampers jumped right in to help out!
Meet my new friends, Mary (left) and Arum (right). They are Malaysian, and Arum is spending a week in Melbourne visiting Mary. She likes to volunteer when she travels, and found my event on Meetup and decided to participate! How cool is that?

Low Inventory Alert - Christmas Countdown Kit
Stampin' Up! has indicated that the supply of the Christmas Countdown advent calendar project kit is running low.
If you want to make this in my class the last week of November you should RSVP right away. My class is $65.00 and includes the kit and all the additional supplies needed to complete it. As soon as you RSVP I will contact you to arrange payment and order your kit. Of course, if the kit sells out I will refund your money.
You can also order the kit to assemble on your own. Below are the supplies needed to complete the kit (plus clear blocks for the stamp set). Here's the card I made on my Facebook Live video this week. During this session I showed how to make the wobbler, which is a spring sandwiched between discs of cardstock. I have been really enjoying this Dino Days stamp set and coordinating Dinoroar Designer Series Paper. It puts a smile on my face every time I look at them and especially when I craft with them. Watch this space for some more projects made with this suite soon. In the meantime here's my Facebook Live video that shows how this card was made. I talk about the wobbler's supplies and where to find them. Let me know if you have any questions! |
