There are some Designer Series Paper (DSP) stacks that I just fall in love with, and the Frosted Floral DSP from the soon-to-be-discontinued Holiday Catalogue is one of them. If you haven't gotten a personal look at this paper it's a shame, because each sheet has 2 sides of gorgeous shimmery colour that pictures just can't show.
This paper is available through January 2...you can order it through my online store!
I decided to use one sheet of this paper to make a set of 8 cards using a One Sheet Wonder template. What is a One Sheet Wonder? It's a set of instructions for cutting a sheet of patterned paper into various sized pieces and card layouts utilising those pieces.
I used a template made by Claudia Ausborn specifically for metric card measurements. If one Googles "One Sheet Wonder" one will find a gazillion templates for measurements in inches, but almost none in centimetres. Claudia posted this in Kylie Bertucci's Love It Chop It Workshop Facebook page, which I highly recommend if you're looking for great ideas to use your stash of DSP!
βOne of the things I like about this method of card making is that I still get to use my creative side...choosing what colours to mat/stamp in, which side of the DSP to use, what sentiment would be best, which ribbon or embellishments, etc. βI got 8 cards from this cutting template...I could have gotten a 9th but I chose to use 2 pieces on one card.
Just taking a quick look at the papers in the swatch photo at the top, one might think that there would be an overwhelming purple and aqua theme...but with this sheet I used Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow and Merry Merlot for the card bases/ink/mats. The cards have a breezy but very rich feel.
I'm thinking that this would make a nice set of cards to give as a gift...what do you think? Local stampers...I'm thinking of offering a One Sheet Wonder workshop...let me know if you'd be interested!

I am sharing the projects we made during my Open House earlier this month. I designed or chose them to showcase some simple stamping techniques suitable for participants with any amount of crafting experience. With everything going on (shipment from America arriving and needing to be unpacked/put away) in the week leading up to the event, I unashamedly CASE'd (Copy and Share Everything) some designs by other demonstrators.
This card I designed myself! It uses a trio of gingerbread men from Cookie Cutter Christmas, and a sentiment from Star of Light. Punches, dimension and ribbon help dress up a super-simple design.

Sorry for the delay in publishing my schedule for the beginning of 2019 - we're still working out some family issues that may affect when I can hold class. Hoping to have this resolved within the week!

This card I first made at a retreat in July hosted by my friend and fellow demonstrator Sarah Edwards. I really like the bright colours in the Designer Series Paper (DSP), and that while there are a lot of little elements to the card, it "reads" as clean-and-simple.

This card I CASE'd from Nancy Ferb. Dandelion Wishes can be used in many ways to make beautiful cards. For this one we used one image and stamped it 3 times in 3 colours of ink: Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick. Rhinestones add a pop of sparkles and the Grapefruit Grove twine ties it all together with the matching card base.

This one was designed by Kim Fee. It uses the beautiful rose and leaf images as well as a sentiment from Healing Hugs, one of the DistInktive stamp sets that use very fine etching in the rubber to make really detailed images.

Today I'm showing one of the projects we made at my Open House on Saturday, and with this post I'm participating in Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlight for December. I'd appreciate it if you'd click here and vote for my entry so I can participate in the Top 10 hop later this month.
Kylie's theme this month is "Gratitude and Thankfulness." I've made several of these Hershey's Nuggets gift packs to hand out this holiday season to show my appreciation to people who impact my family. The tag features the Dashing Deer stamp set and Detailed Deer Thinlits Dies. I've pulled the colours Sahara Sand, Merry Merlot and Copper from the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper which is used to wrap the chocolates.
Here are the details for constructing your own gift packs:
Cardstock Tray: Merry Merlot cut to 2 β " x 5", then scored on both long edges at β " and folded up. Nugget Wrappers: cut DSP into 1" x 3" strips. For directions on wrapping see my tutorial for a similar pouch made from DSP here. Tag: Sahara Sand cut 2" x 4 ΒΌ". Punch with Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Stamp with sentiment in Merry Merlot. Affix die cut deer (the one pictured is cut from Copper Foil Sheets, but we also made gorgeous ones from the Copper colour in the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper Pack). Assembly: Place wrapped chocolates in the cardstock tray. Slide it into the 2" x 8" (5.1 x 20.3 cm) Cellophane Bag. Tie Merry Merlot & Copper Ribbon once around neck of bag, then slide the tag onto one tail and tie a bow. Trim ends as desired.

There will be make-and-take projects, snacks and displays. Come when you can, leave when you must. Feel free to bring a friend. RSVPs appreciated so I can have enough materials prepared. A quick toot of my own horn: I got Honorable Mention for my CAS(e) This Sketch! #298 entry which you can see here! I'm up to my eyeballs this week finishing unpacking our U.S. shipment that arrived a week ago, and preparing for my Open House on Saturday. I almost have my craft room set up...I still need to pick up the shelves for my stamp sets this afternoon, and get a few more things squared away, but the big furniture is in place and I've even had a few minutes to give it a test. This craft room doubles as our guest room, so I've got a sleep sofa in here...just waiting for visitors! Our son will be giving it a good test run when he arrives next week. He'll be here until New Year's Day, so we're pretty excited for that. So far I really like my stand-up cutting/Big Shot/embossing centre. I'm also pretty proud of my Ikea shelf hack...it's a DVD/CD shelf unit turned on its side. Where the creative magic happens...with the computer magic right alongside.
That's all for today...I'll be back as time allows this week. If you're in the Melbourne area on Saturday I hope you'll pop in to say hello and make a few cards in the afternoon! |
