Today starts my Merry Monday blog series - each Monday between now and Christmas I'll share a holiday-themed project here on the blog.
I am also starting a 12 Weeks of Christmas tutorial series on Wednesdays that is exclusively for my newsletter subscribers. Click on the button below to be sure you're signed up before Wednesday to receive all twelve tutorials!
Have you started making your Christmas cards yet? I like to make a wide variety, but some prefer to pick one design and mass-produce them. If you'd like help settling on a design and supplies you need to make it, feel free to reach out to me.
I've been creating lots of cards with the Poinsettia Place Suite recently in preparation for my Poinsettia Petals Class Series. I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest to try one using a Gray Granite and white colour palette, and this is the result.
I really like the embossing the optional inner die does on the poinsettia bracts (fun botany fact - those usually-red parts of the plant that we think of as the flower are not petals, but bracts, or specialised leaves. which are supposed to attract pollinators to the little flower in the centre.). They give a lot of detail, texture and dimension.
I've layered the poinsettia on a piece of the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper, which features flocked designs on vellum. I've nestled a big bow of Gray Granite ¼" Shimmer Ribbon in between the two as well. The sentiment is from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and is punched at either end with the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch. To finish it off I coloured a Rhinestone Basic Jewel with my Gray Granite Dark Stampin' Blends Marker, though I think the Beaded Pearls embellishments from this suite would be lovely.
Here's what I used to make this card:
