The other week I taught a technique class featuring different methods of transferring ink and water onto paper for backgrounds. See my first, second and third examples here, here and here.
The final technique we explored was pressing 3 or 4 stamp pads directly on the acetate/Window Sheet, spritzing with a good amount of water, then turning the plastic upside down and touching one part of it to the paper, then lifting and touching another part of the paper. You can press the plastic to move the ink along a bit during the process. This is kind of a combination of the first and third methods.
Here is one example of this technique made with Shimmery White Paper and Blackberry Bliss, Marina Mist and Perfect Plum inks. I think that the Shimmery White produces the best results because the ink and water can "float" on the surface for a fraction of a second longer than the super-absorbent Watercolor Paper.
This one is also on Shimmery White, with Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo and Night of Navy inks. Once the ink had been pressed onto the paper I used an AquaPainter to flick drops of water onto the page. I let them sit for a minute or two until I could see that they had lifted or moved the ink, then carefully blotted up the excess water with a paper towel.
One last example, this time with Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Hello Honey inks. I'm going to have to figure out what to make out of these sheets!
Don't be left out of the March Paper Pumpkin fun!
March is Paper Pumpkin's 3rd birthday. I was a total skeptic when the program was introduced, and the first year's kits weren't inspiring at all. That has totally changed and I look forward to every month's kit with giddy anticipation.
March's kit is going to be shipped in this special, blue box...who knows what goodies it will contain?
What are you waiting for? You need to be signed up by March 10 to receive the March kit. A 3-month subscription is on sale for $55, which also earns you a FREE Sale-A-Bration item! Go to my Online Store and order item #137859 so you don't miss out on March's kit!
I've been paper-crafting since 2006, and an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator since 2010. I love sharing my craft with others, either through classes or by creating special cards and gifts that meet their needs. Join me in creating fun!
