Here's yet another technique for applying colour to paper to make a background: plastic or cling wrap!
Once again we began by spritzing our watercolour paper with plain water to wet the surface. On a piece of plastic (like a page protector) or a large clear block we put drops of Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Rococo Rose and Blackberry Bliss ink refill, space pretty close together. Then we scrunched up a piece of cling wrap and pounced it in the ink once or twice to pick up ink, then pounced a couple of times on the wet watercolour paper. We repeated until the watercolour paper was covered, trying not to muddy the colours on the palette too much as we re-pounced on it. If desired, we re-spritzed the paper to help blend the colours a bit more. Then let it dry and create away! I chose to use one of the Butterfly Beauty Dies images along with a sentiment from Beauty Abounds.
It's interesting to see what the colours look like when the piece is dry...in this case the Crushed Curry ink wound up coordinating much better with Mango Melody cardstock. The Rococo Rose cardstock simply looked terrible alongside the blended colours, but I think that ink probably adds to the overall effect and wouldn't look as good if I left it out of the mix. So here's everything I used: Last Day to RSVP for Saturday's Class!
