Watercoloured Backgrounds part 5

This post is also part of Kylie Bertucci's Demonstrator Training Program Monthly Blog Hop.  Please take some time and "hop around" the rest of the posts following the links after my post.

Here is an example of another Watercolouring Backgrounds technique.  To make this one I put a dab of Frost White Shimmer Paint on the largest clear block and used a palette knife to spread it out into a blob about the size of a U.S. quarter or Aussie 20¢ coin.  Then I did the same with a drop each of Pear Pizzazz and Balmy Blue ink refills, keeping them close together but not really touching.  A spritz or 2 of water onto the block, and more onto a piece of watercolour paper to moisten the whole surface.  I pressed the paper onto the block and got a few bold splotches of ink.  Then I kept adding a spritz of water to the block and repositioning the paper to dilute and pick up the rest of the ink.

Once it was dry I stamped the birds on a branch from Free As A Bird in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cut it out with a Stitched Nested Labels die.

I'm sorry you can't see the shimmer in the picture - it's all over and really pretty.  Once again I want to give SU! a shout-out for their colour coordination.  The green cardstock I've used is Pear Pizzazz, but the ink I used on the Woodland embossing folder is Soft Sea Foam, and the ribbon is Old Olive.  All of them work well with how the Pear Pizzazz ink is concentrated and diluted on the watercoloured panel.

I had plenty of inked cardstock left over, so I cut a few of the flowers from the FREE Lily Pad dies in the Sale-A-Bration brochure and adhered them strategically  over interesting spots.  I hand-cut them out and made another card.

Unfortunately, I needed this card for a friend this week.  I paired my lillies with some lily pads from the Lovely Lily Pad stamp set and Lily Pad dies that are available FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration.  Once again, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Sea Foam set off and coordinate with the watercoloured pieces nicely.
