Brightest Beauty Celebration Card

The flower in the now-retired Brightest Beauty stamp set is the Golden Wattle. This is a variety of Acacia tree native to Southeastern Australia, and, since the Bicentennial in 1988, the official floral emblem of Australia.

I held on to this set when it retired because I knew I wanted to use it to mark a very special celebration…when Glenn, Nicole and I all became citizens of Australia! Last night was our official citizenship ceremony, and we are very excited to officially be dual-citizens. Here we are with the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, the Honourable Sally Capp.

Note King Charlie giving us his regal regard!

The Golden Wattle is where the national sports teams get their gold and green uniform colours from…which I’d wondered about since our flag is red, white and blue (at least while we remain in the Commonwealth, LOL!).

See – there’s wattle as part of the Great Seal of Australia!

It’s fun to take a retired image (even one not very old) and give it new life with current products. See the supply list below for all the details.

I even stamped a second branch and put it inside for an extra touch.

Here’s what I used to make the card…as I said, Brightest Beauty and the coordinating Golden Beauty Dies are retired, but they just popped up on the Clearance Rack, at least here in Australia – how’s that for timing!
