These are the cards I made during this week’s Facebook Live video. You can watch it on replay on YouTube and Facebook. I go live on my Nancy’s Nifty Notes Facebook Page every Wednesday at 10:00 AET…you can check to see what time that is where you are at this website. NOTE: I will be on a road trip with my daughter next week and will not be going Live…see you again on 14 December!
This is the stencil set-up I made…I cut the Christmas tree shape from a piece of the backer board that comes in our Designer Series Paper, both because it’s sturdier than even our Thick cardstock, but it also has a bit of a coating that is nice for this purpose.
I used washi tape to make a hinge on the left side, and smaller pieces on the corners to hold the stencil in place over the cardstock I place beneath the stencil. You can use masking tape or painter’s tape…any low-tack tape.
The mat is an old cutting mat for craft knives/rotary cutters that I have. You can also use a piece of Window Sheet, or the Silicone Craft Mat, or just your desk top – anything that will let you pick up the corner tape pieces easily over and over again. Easy to wipe clean is a plus, too, since it’s quite likely you’ll swirl ink off the edge of the stencil sometimes. I like the grid marks on this so I can see where to place my cardstock each time, and it’s easy to pick up and move out of the way when I want to add my stamping.
You’ll see in the video that after I used my Blending Brushes to swirl on Soft Succulent ink (and sometimes a bit of Evening Evergreen ink), I used my Stamparatus to add the sentiment from Leaves of Holly in Evening Evergreen. I then pulled out my old Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position the tree stamp. As I said, the positioning for the stencilling could be off just enough each time that using the Stamparatus wouldn’t be as precise as the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. If you’re in Australia and interested in getting your hands on one of these still-useful tools, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
Then it was all about the embellishing! I’ve written each type of embellishment I used beneath each picture.
Here’s the supply list with current products used. The Christmas Lights stamp set and Twinkling Lights dies are on the Last Chance Products list, so I’m posting them separately as the dies are discounted 40%. Likewise the Holly Berry dies, which I didn’t use on this project, but coordinate with the sentiment set.
