After a bit of experimentation prior to my video I decided to use a Blender Pen and ink to colour the images. Stampin’ Blends put too much colour onto the page, and also coloured the heat embossing, which I wanted to resist the ink and stay white. The Blender Pen is filled with a solution that allows the ink to be applied in a thin wash without so much liquid as an Aquapainter, which is a plus when using regular cardstock. I was able to go back and add a few dabs of additional colour to get some shading effects, which I wouldn’t be able to do with regular Stampin’ Write Markers. As I coloured I also used a paper towel to wipe off any excess ink from the white embossing.
The sentiment is stamped in Mossy Meadow and cut out with a Stitched Shapes Die. The Rococo Rose strip’s scallop edge is cut with one of the Budding Blooms Dies, part of the Bloom & Grow Bundle that’s on sale through today. All 3 colours of cardstock and 2 of the 3 inks used in today’s card are also on sale at 15% off! (Substitue Crushed Curry for the Mango Melody and all 3 inks are on sale – just sayin’!)
Here’s a detailed list of what I used to make this card. Note that these prices are regular retail, not the sale prices.
