Coloring on Crumb Cake

Here’s the card I made on this week’s Facebook Live video.  You can watch the replay on Facebook or on YouTube.

I CASE’d the design from Terry Bolender, a SU! demonstrator in the U.S.  I changed up her colours a bit to suit my own mood.  After wiping my panel of Crumb Cake cardstock with my Embossing Buddy, I stamped one of the flower sprays from Bloom & Grow in Versamark and heat set with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

After a bit of experimentation prior to my video I decided to use a Blender Pen and ink to colour the images.  Stampin’ Blends put too much colour onto the page, and also coloured the heat embossing, which I wanted to resist the ink and stay white.  The Blender Pen is filled with a solution that allows the ink to be applied in a thin wash without so much liquid as an Aquapainter, which is a plus when using regular cardstock.  I was able to go back and add a few dabs of additional colour to get some shading effects, which I wouldn’t be able to do with regular Stampin’ Write Markers.  As I coloured I also used a paper towel to wipe off any excess ink from the white embossing.

The sentiment is stamped in Mossy Meadow and cut out with a Stitched Shapes Die.  The Rococo Rose strip’s scallop edge is cut with one of the Budding Blooms Dies, part of the Bloom & Grow Bundle that’s on sale through today.  All 3 colours of cardstock and 2 of the 3 inks used in today’s card are also on sale at 15% off!  (Substitue Crushed Curry for the Mango Melody and all 3 inks are on sale – just sayin’!)

Here’s a detailed list of what I used to make this card. Note that these prices are regular retail, not the sale prices.  Scroll to the bottom of this post to see everything that’s on sale.
