Coloured Vellum Cards

Last Thursday we had a very nasty, hot, windy and dusty day so I decided to stay inside and have a crafternoon!  Inspired by Narelle Fasulo, I made this series of cards with items from the Perennial Essence Suite.

I used the same concept for each, just changed up the number and position of the flowers as well as the colour of vellum and coordinating cardstock, ink and ribbon.

The flowers and leaves are stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  There are 2 tricks to this – use an Embossing Buddy to cut static and oils that make stray powder stick to the vellum, and keep the heat tool moving to minimise (but not eliminate) the vellum warping.

I used a variety of sentiments and cut them out with the Stitched Shapes Dies.  The vellum is attached to he Whisper White panels with Tear & Tape stuck behind the sentiments and flowers.

I didn’t have a So Saffron ribbon in my stash, so I coloured the Silver ⅜” Metallic-Edge Ribbon with my So Saffron Light Stampin’ Blend marker.  So easy and a perfect match!  Did you note the double-bow on the Old Olive card?  It’s a great way to bulk up a very thin ribbon like that one.

I’m thinking that this is going to be a little hostess gift for someone this holiday season….
