Next I pulled out my AquaPainter (AC p. 163) and the following ink pads: Pear Pizazz, Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder. Squeezing the pads before opening them puts a small pool of ink in the lid, where I can mix in as much or little water from the AquaPainter as I want. My basic watercoloring technique is to put a very light layer of color (more water, less ink), let it dry, then add more layers, sometimes upping the color intensity by putting more ink and less water on my brush. I try to get good shading and variation, but it’s still a learning process for me.
I added a sentiment from the Birthday Blooms set (OC p. 9). The image is larger than a standard card front, but I couldn’t bear to trim off too much of my flowers, so my card is oddly sized (5″ x 6″). Fortunately, the envelope punch board and some Pear Pizzazz Subtles Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stack (AC p. 144) made a perfectly sized envelope. Someone with a late winter birthday is going to get a very bright and cheerful card!
