Crafting KonMari Style: Delightfully Detailed Series

There’s nothing like having to go through your accumulations of 50+ years in preparation to move around the world to emphasise how little we should be accumulating!  

I have taken this lesson to heart as I craft here in Melbourne, and have made  a big effort to use my supplies, especially my stash of  Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Making cards and sharing them “sparks joy” for me, so I consider that good.

If you love your DSP and are reluctant to use it, I encourage you to check out Kylie Bertucci’s Love It Chop It Workshop on Facebook. There she advocates for cutting up entire packs of DSP into a size to layer onto your card fronts as soon as you receive it.  I’m not quite there, since sometimes I like to do other things with my DSP, but the concept of getting into it and USING it is great.

I’ll  be showing you some ways I’ve used a bunch of DSP over the next few posts…today we’ll start with the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty DSP.

This paper is so lacy and delicate!  One side is Very Vanilla, the other Whisper White.  

This card has a 2-layer butterfly from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits (Night of Navy on the bottom, Vellum on top) with Frosted Epoxy Droplets on the thorax. The sentiment is from Wishing You Well.

A panel of Tranquil Textures DSP behind the lattice piece of Delightfully Detailed DSP adds just enough movement and interest.  The sentiment is from Enjoy Life, and is matted with a cutout from the Eastern Medallions Thinlits set. The embellishments are Clear Epoxy Shapes coloured with Rich Razzleberry Dark Stampin’ Blends.

Liked the colour scheme of the one above so much I did it again…with an example on p. 38 of the Annual Catalogue for inspiration.  The sentiment strip is Mint Macaron, and the Congratulations is from Hand Delivered.

The sentiment on this card is stamped in Balmy Blue ink to match the mat, and is circled by an image from Eastern Beauty that is stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed in silver.  The Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon ties it all together.

Bring on the bling!  The Bermuda Bay DSP mat is from last year’s Sale-A-Bration DSP, Bubbles & Fizz (one of the few retired products I brought from the States).  Lots of Clear Rhinestone Basic Jewels finish it off (can you spot where I missed one???).

I still need to figure out projects with the long  strips of lace, and how to cut/what I’m going to do with the 12×12 sheet of lace.
