Dear Friend Sails Home

Today’s a public holiday in much of Australia, to honour the Queen of England’s birthday (it is a Commonwealth nation, after all).  But as I’m learning is typical here, not all of the states observe on the same day.  For some reason Queensland (where I actually am today visiting in Brisbane) and Western Australia observe in late September/early October.  If you’ve got a fascination with such things there’s more detail here.

Here’s a card that combines some sentiments from the Hugs From Shelli Paper Pumpkin Kit and some elements from the Come Sail Away suite.

I adhered a strip of the Come Sail Away DSP to a layer of Night of Navy that’s run through my die cut machine with the Subtle embossing folder.  I know the texture is  hard to see in this pic, sorry (it is subtle!).

Next I stamped two sentiments from Hugs From Shelli and a sailboat from Sailing Home onto Whisper White and cut it out with at Stitched Nested Labels dies.  I cut a second WW label, and cut it in 2, layering it behind the larger label in Night of Navy to help it stand out when popped up.  Everything is on a Night of Navy card base and embellished with a couple of the silver Metallic Pearls.
