Faux Distress Oxide Ink Technique

On my Facebook Live last week I showed how to use Stampin’ Up! inks to make a background that mimics those made with distress oxide inks.  I watched a video of this technique, and apparently didn’t pin it, and can’t find it to link now.  I’ll update if I ever come across it again to give credit where it’s due!

You can watch my video showing how to make these cards either on Facebook or YouTube.

I had a lot of fun playing with the colours to make these backgrounds.  I  found that 4 colours total worked really well, 3 that blend together and one that compliments and “pops”.

As promised on my video, here are the cards I made, including some made with the piece left when I cut down the main image panel.  You’ll also note that I’ve changed up a few of the embellishments from the video.

Colours: Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel, Seaside Spray and Rococo Rose.
Stamp sets: Good Morning Magnolia & A Big Thank You (L); Beauty Abounds (R).
Colours: Rich Razzleberry, Merry Merlot, Rococo Rose and Mango Melody.
Stamp Sets: Good Morning Magnolia & Here’s A Card (L); Magnolia Blooms & A Big Thank You (R).
Colours: Pretty Peacock, Blueberry Bushel, Gorgeous Grape, Old Olive
Stamp Sets: Good Morning Magnolia & Healing Hugs
Colours: Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Highland Heather.
Stamp Sets: Good Morning Magnolia & Magnolia Blooms
Colours: Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Gray Granite & Blushing Bride.
Stamp Set: Good Morning Magnolia
Did you notice?

A few of these cards use stamps from the Magnolia Blooms set…but you won’t find it in the Annual Catalogue.  It’s in the new, Experience Creativity Beginner Brochure,  but it’s not just for beginners!  They coordinate perfectly with all the other products in the Magnolia Lane Suite…it’s fun to mix-and-match.

Don’t forget to check out my weekly Facebook Live video – either live at 10:00 am on Wednesdays in Melbourne (figure out your time here) or later that day on Facebook or YouTube.
