Faux Letterpress

Looking for a quick technique to add a lot of impact to a card?  Try this faux letterpress technique.

  1.  Take an embossing folder and smear one or more ink pads directly on the smoother side.
  2.  Add your card stock and run through the Big Shot.  You get the embossed (raised) pattern without ink, and the flat side is colored with the applied ink.
  3.  Rinse off your embossing folder and leave open to dry, or dry with a paper towel to repeat right away.

You can add additional layers with stamped images or sentiments, embellishments, or whatever suits your fancy.

On my example above I used the Boho Chic embossing folder with Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss inks.  I started with a piece of Whisper White that was 5.5″ x 4.25″ and after it was embossed cut it down to 5.25″ x 4″.  I then mounted it on a Blackberry Bliss card base.  I’ve chosen to leave it as-is, because I like the busy pattern and interplay of inks just as they are.
