Looking for a quick technique to add a lot of impact to a card? Try this faux letterpress technique.
- Take an embossing folder and smear one or more ink pads directly on the smoother side.
- Add your card stock and run through the Big Shot. You get the embossed (raised) pattern without ink, and the flat side is colored with the applied ink.
- Rinse off your embossing folder and leave open to dry, or dry with a paper towel to repeat right away.
You can add additional layers with stamped images or sentiments, embellishments, or whatever suits your fancy.
On my example above I used the Boho Chic embossing folder with Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss inks. I started with a piece of Whisper White that was 5.5″ x 4.25″ and after it was embossed cut it down to 5.25″ x 4″. I then mounted it on a Blackberry Bliss card base. I’ve chosen to leave it as-is, because I like the busy pattern and interplay of inks just as they are.
