My Cheat Day, part 2

In yesterday’s post I showed you most of the projects I made in late August at the Paperific Expo. Here are the final 2:
So there’s actually no paper involved in this project – it’s a pour-over paint project on a 5″ x 7″ stretched canvas.
We layered 3 colours of paint plus a bit of white into a plastic cup, I did minimal stirring with a popsicle stick because I wanted the colours to stay pretty distinct. Then I placed the canvas upside-down on top of the cup, and upended it into the aluminium tray.  I tilted the tray and used the popsicle stick to help nudge the paint into coating the entire canvas, including the sides.  This is just after I finished pouring. The vendor had a place behind the scenes to store all the trays until customers were ready to take them home.  I got some interesting looks on the tram that afternoon!

I’d love to get a chance to just play with different amounts paints in layers, different amounts of mixing, etc. and see what effects I get.  But I’m not investing in the supplies, and I’m not doing it in this apartment!  May have to wait until next year’s Paperific.

I was really excited to take this mini-class, run by a Kaszazz consultant.  Kaszazz is an Australia-based paper crafting company that is structured similarly to Stampin’ Up!.  I was particularly interested in the Australian images on the papers and stamps.

The way we folded the 12″ x 12″ paper made pockets to tuck notes, photos and/or gift cards into.  This front pocket has a die-cut envelope with a rubber-stamped postage stamp.

There are actually 4 small pockets inside.
And in the back pocket we have a tag with a cockatoo.  My U.S. friends may not know that these fly around in the wild here…even in central Melbourne!  The red flowers are native waratah blossoms.

I enjoyed these Aussie-themed stamps so much I bought them and a few more…with no guilt because except for a few cartoon animals SU!’s lineup is lacking in this department.  (Yes, I do have a few non-SU! saguaro, cholla, roadrunner and quail stamps from my time in AZ, too!)
