While I was in Arizona I had the pleasure of helping my friend and former team member, Nickie, teach her monthly card classes. It was great fun to see many of my friends/former customers and to meet some new-t0-me stampers!
Here is one of the cards Nickie taught (we prepped card kits for each other to get in on the fun, too!). I hadn’t been that attracted to this Tropical Oasis Suite, but this card made me change my mind!
Check out the cool effect we did with the 5/16″ Braided Burlap Trim: we applied 2 strips of it to the back of the Painted Labels Dies piece and then used a piercing tool or tips of scissors to fray it. I chose to trim the ends, others left them more ragged and uneven for a different look.
To make stamp the palm trees we inked up the fronds with an Old Olive ink pad, then took a sponge dauber and applied some Pretty Peacock ink randomly over the Old Olive. Then we coloured the trunks with an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker, “huffed” to dampen the ink, and stamped. You can see it most clearly in the photo below.
I am really loving this layout, too. Big impact without having to write very much to the recipient, LOL! The inside sentiment is from another set, and is completely optional.
Here are the supplies used to make this card:
