Shimmer Laser-Cut Cards

Last week my friend, Tania Tobin, showed off a card she’d made by adding a thin layer of Shimmery White Embossing Paste to one of the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards, with a piece of card stock inserted to also get the inverse impression.

I don’t have the Shimmery White Embossing Paste, but I do have the new Shimmer White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  So I put a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock under the front of the Laser-Cut Card and smeared my Versamark ink pad all over.  Then I coated both with the embossing powder and set with my heat tool.

Wow, right?  I added a piece of Balmy Blue to the back of the laser-cut side:

Then I had to let it sit for a while to figure out what I wanted to do to finish it off.  I just kept thinking how it would be a nice wedding card, so I finally added a sentiment from Bloom & Grow, also stamped in Versamark and embossed with the Shimmer White powder.

To be honest, I thought I was finished with this card.  Even had this blog post all set to go, but it didn’t really feel finished.  As my day went on, this idea came into my head:

I stamped 2 of the largest Bloom & Grow flower sprays on Very Vanilla with Versamark ink, then heat embossed with the Shimmer White embossing powder.  Then I coloured them in with Stampin’ Blends and cut them out with the coordinating dies..  Now it feels truly finished!

Stop back tomorrow to see what I did with the masked Very Vanilla piece.

Here’s what I used to make this card:
