Soft Seedlings in Springtime S.I.P. Card

After nearly 2 weeks of rain every day, we’ve finally had a (mostly) sunny weekend! This beautiful spring weather got us outside and walking, and the leafy trees inspired me to make this card.

What is an S.I.P. card? It’s one made with just Stamps, Ink, and Paper!

Most of the big trees lining the streets here are plane trees (very similar to the sycamores in the eastern half of the U.S.), but I’ve noticed at least one street near me that’s got maples. Neither variety are native to Australia, so I’m betting that no new ones are being planted these days by local governments.

Unlike the 4-Split cards I showed you in this post, where I made a baby wipe stamp pad from 4 colours, for this card I stamped the leaf and seed pod image in Pear Pizzazz 3 times, then again in Soft Sea Foam 4 times. This gave a foreground and background effect to the leaves. I also added a couple of the seed pods in Pear Pizzazz to fill in light spots just a bit.

I amped up the colour just a bit on the sentiment by using Old Olive. I think that even though there is only 1 layer on the stamped panel there is a feel of dimension and texture – like a soft spring breeze!

I keep being tempted to add some rhinestones as sparkly sunshine peeking through the leaves, but then back off. What do you think?

Here’s the supply list for this card – everything is available in my Online Store.
