Today I’m taking part in this blog hop for the first time in a very long while. I hope you’ll take some time and go through all the entries and leave comments…many of the participants have never hopped, or even blogged before!
Our theme for this blog hop is “Thank You,” with an eye to cards sent to customers for placing orders. I started with a blank mind and went through many options, but am very happy with where I wound up!
I played with some of the Splendid Day Designer Series Paper as a background layer, before discarding it for my favourite watercolour “wash” method. I pressed my Petal Pink and Calypso Coral ink pads on a Clear Block E and spritzed it liberally with water. Then I smooshed it against a piece of Basic White cardstock (left). I repeated the same process but pressed it to a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper (middle). Then I decided to add Pale Papaya ink at the top, Petal Pink in the middle, and Calypso Coral at the bottom, smooshed onto Watercolor Paper (right). That’s the one I ultimately chose to use on this card…but I’ll use the other 2 on some other cards.
I stamped this leaf outline image from Splendid Thoughts in Calypso Coral onto Basic White cardstock, then used a Blending Brush to swirl on Petal Pink ink. I think it makes a softer colour than stamping directly on Petal Pink cardstock.
I cut the Calypso Coral leaves with Adhesive Sheet on the back to make them easy to adhere. I tried a number of different ways to add the sentiment (as you can see in my photo below) before deciding to heat emboss it in white on Vellum cardstock that I cut with the semi-circle die in the Splendid Stems set. It’s adhered with a very narrow strip of Tear & Tape under the embossing.
It took a lot of trial-and-error, but I hope you agree the result was worth it! Scroll down to the bottom to find a supply list if you want it.
Here’s how to hop along to the next participant:
