Spring Custom Cards

This is the time of year I tend to get an flurry of requests for custom cards…usually for graduations.  It’s fun to make a card that incorporates something about the graduate, as I did in this card:  the student was a football player, so I included the school’s athletic logo on the “wall of graffiti”.  I downloaded the logo from the school’s website, converted it to grayscale, and positioned it to print where I wanted when I ran the Adventure Bound DSP through my printer.  The other words come from the Bravo, @SoSocial, and Crazy for You stamp sets. They are stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed with White, Black and Silver embossing powders.
Another request I recently received was from a friend who wanted a birthday card for her daughter that featured lots of glitter and rainbows to reflect an inside joke between the two of them.
I made this by nesting my Oval Framelits on a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (DDGP) and running it through my Big Shot, which gave me the Red-Blue pieces.  The Purple piece was made from the inner oval left by the Framelits, cut out with the Large Oval Punch.

Then I used an AquaPainter and re-inkers to color the DDGP, using very little water and a lot of re-inker to get a deep color (the color seeps through and is absorbed by the underlying paper, but is resisted by the glitter itself). Once they’d dried I nested them back together and attached them to a layer of Silver Glimmer Paper that’s glued to a Whisper White card base.

Finally, I cut the numbers with the Bigz Alphabet Typeset Dies (retired) in DDGP.  I felt that numbers were lost without something to ground them, so I cut a second set from Smoky Slate and offset them when I attached them to the Silver Glimmer layer.

My friend reported that the birthday girl loved the card and immediately got the joke.  Love it!
