Stampin’ Up! Soft Pastels Techniques Cards

These are the cards I made during this week’s Facebook Live video. You can watch it on replay on Facebook or YouTube. I go live on my Nancy’s Nifty Notes Facebook Page every Wednesday at 10:00 AET. You can check to see what time that is where you are at this website.

This week I wanted to show a couple of ways to use the Soft Pastels Assortment. Unlike previous versions of pastels from SU!, these are 8 sticks of chalk pastels, rather than small squares of chalks in nearly every colour of our palette. They are easy to use, and very affordable.

This card uses the Popping Pastels technique, where one stamps in Versamark ink, which is clear and sticky. Then apply the colour powder scraped off the sticks of pastel with the spatula end of the Take Your Pick tool or a craft knife.

I tried using a cotton swab and a small brush, and felt that the brush did a better job of applying the colour.

I also showed how one can use a pencil eraser to remove pastel smudges from the cardstock surrounding the images.

Then I used a Blender Pen to pick up the chalk powder and colour in this image.

I layered the Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana on the birds’ bodies before highlighting their bodies with Daffodil Delight.

Here’s a list of supplies I used to make this cards…you can purchase any of them in my online store.
