The second technique is masking. I stamped the chick on a Post-It note, being sure to get as much of the image over the sticky strip as I could, then cut it right on the outline and placed it over the watercolored chick to mask it while I stamped the floral spray from Number of Years “behind” it. Then I removed the mask and stamped the second spray of stems and leaves, along with all the flowers. Finally, I watercolored the grassy hill under and around the chick.
Since I used a piece of Very Vanilla card stock for the image panel, it was pretty wavy once I’d done all that watercoloring, so when it was mostly dry I put it under some books to finish drying overnight and flatten out, then added the sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes and mounted it on a Wisteria Wonder card base.
