Christmas Treats

I had fun this weekend making 20 of these “sour cream” treat containers for a customer.  They’re called this because they’re shaped like the small cartons of sour cream that were provided at Wendy’s with a baked potato (I know they still have the potatoes – how do they serve the sour cream???).

The customer prefers to load them with treats herself, which is why they have an open bottom and aren’t shaped quite right in this picture.

I used Designer Series Paper sized 6″ x 4.25″.  I know that this size will hold 3-4 of Lindt’s Lindor Truffles.  Get the most out of your 12×12 DSP by shortening them to 4″, but you’ll sacrifice a truffle.  To assemble, put Tear n’ Tape on the back of one short and both long sides.  Roll the DSP into a tube, overlap and adhere the short sides.  Pull the adhesive backing from the top of the tube and squeeze it together.

Punch 2 holes close to the top (I used the double reverse hole punch from the gift bag punch board) and thread ribbon from front-to-back through each hole, cross the ends and pass them back through the opposite holes.  Pull snug.  Add a length of sequin trim with a Glue Dot.  Slip one end of the tag’s string under the center of the ribbon, tie and trim.

The tags are from:

  • Noel:  Antique Tags (HC p. 51 – host)
  • ho! ho! ho!:  Good Greetings (retired) and Tag Talk (AC p, 60)
  • Let it Snow:  Best of Snow (retired)
